gno's mandate

La Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario is an organization that regroups artists from the province of Ontario working in contemporary and explorative art . In response to its members’ interests, la GNO facilitates exchanges, supports the development of the visual arts community and stimulates varied forms of expression in contemporary art. Its artistic mandate is to place experimental contemporary arts in public view and to promote their appreciation.

La GNO’s main activities are exhibitions of contemporary art in its gallery in Sudbury and in other spaces outside the gallery. Further developmental initiatives revolve around two annual multidisciplinary activities, which welcome artists from other fields. In the course of all these events, la GNO coordinates activities that generate response to the works, such as round table discussions, guided tours and presentations.
