Poète prolifique acclamé par la critique, peintre et graveur, Robbert Fortin est né à St-Victor de Beauce au Québec. Il a fait ses études universitaires en lettres québécoises et création poésie à l’Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières et à l’Université Laval de Québec. En 1990, il poursuit des études de lithographie et eaux-fortes (Windsor Printmaker’s Forum, Windsor).
Il faut avoir beaucoup vécu pour être un jeune poète en pleine maturité. Et l’âge n’a rien à y voir. Robbert Fortin est l’une des voix les plus fortes de la jeune poésie, et pour cause. Après les imprécations, les dénonciations, les coups de rage et d’indignation, une pause contemplative; la Nature (arbres, terre, mer, pluie, bêtes) reprend ses sens, remet à l’homme le sens de la vie, continuité, permanence. Un hymne à la lumière, à l’espoir, aux petits bonheurs de la vie. Témoin et semeur, Robbert Fortin est un poète et peintre inspiré par la force de son expérience.
En 2003, Robbert Fortin devient directeur de la collection Poésie à L'Hexagone « L'Appel de mots ». Il vit à Montréal où il donne fréquemment des récitals de poésie de même que des ateliers en milieux scolaires et universitaires. Peintre, il a exposé ses œuvres au Québec, au Canada, à Paris, à New-York, à Détroit, en Russie et au Japon.
